Piraeus is the gateway to the islands, but it’s also a city with its own daily life and its own traffic. Renting a car in Piraeus serves two quite different groups: people arriving or departing by ferry who need a vehicle for a few days, and people who live here and want a car without buying one.

We cover both. We deliver free of charge at gates E1 to E12, in the city centre, at the Metro stations, and in Nikaia, Korydallos and Keratsini. If you’re arriving by sea, send us the sailing and time and we’ll be at the right gate with the vehicle ready.

What the price includes

The quote you receive is final. It covers VAT, third-party insurance, unlimited mileage, a second driver and delivery within Piraeus. Nothing is added at collection — no port surcharge, no admin fee. For how the cost is built up, see the prices page.

How far ahead should I book?

From November to April, a day or two ahead is plenty. In July and August the constraint isn’t price but availability: the whole of Attica’s fleet heads for the islands and the automatics go first. If you’re travelling then and want a particular category, book early.

Practicalities

Worth knowing

Documents and age

You need a valid licence held for at least a year, an ID card or passport, and a card in the main driver’s name for the deposit. The minimum age is 23 for most categories. Non-EU licences usually need an International Driving Permit as well — detail in what you need to rent.

Without a credit card

For several categories we accept a debit card or, by arrangement, cash with a deposit paid up front. It needs agreeing before you book rather than at collection. See renting without a credit card.

Manual or automatic

In Greece the overwhelming majority of the fleet is manual. Automatics exist but in smaller numbers and at a higher rate. If you only drive automatic, say so at the start of your enquiry so we can reserve one — in August that’s the difference between having a car and not.

Taking the car to an island

A rental can travel by ferry, but it needs our written approval beforehand, because the insurance defines a geographic area of cover. Mention it when booking. When it pays to take the car and when to rent locally is covered in the ferry guide.

Collecting at the port

Piraeus port spreads over several kilometres with twelve gates. We come to you, so you don’t need to move — just tell us the gate. If you’re unsure which one, the E1–E12 guide maps gates to destinations.

Frequently asked

Frequently asked

It depends on the category, the length of hire and the season. We don't publish a rate card because it would mislead in summer; we send a final quote the same day based on your actual dates. The price includes VAT, insurance, unlimited mileage and delivery within Piraeus.
