Piraeus is the largest passenger port in Europe. Millions of people pass through it every year, and a great many of them need a vehicle within half an hour of stepping off the ship. Collecting a rental car at the port is the most convenient option — provided it is done properly.
“Properly” here has less to do with the company than with the geography: the port runs for several kilometres of waterfront and the gates are a long way apart. If you end up at the wrong one with luggage, you will not fix it on foot.
The process in four steps
- Ask for a quote. Through the form, by phone, or on WhatsApp. Give us your dates, the vehicle group and — most importantly — the ship’s name and arrival time. You get a final price, usually the same day.
- You get a confirmation. With the exact meeting point at your gate and a contact number for the day. We confirm the point again the day before, because it changes depending on which ships are loading.
- You dock and send a message. One message is enough. We are already tracking your sailing, so if the ferry runs two hours late we know before you do.
- You collect and go. Contract, document check, a quick walk around the vehicle, keys. Five to ten minutes. The car is already there, clean and with a full tank.
Which gate you need
The gates are numbered E1 to E12 and each serves different destinations. The distance from one end to the other is over two kilometres, so knowing your gate before you arrive is not a detail.

What documents you need
- A valid driving licence, held for at least one year.
- An ID card or passport. An ID card is enough for EU citizens.
- A card in the main driver’s name for the deposit. We accept debit cards for most groups.
- Your booking confirmation, by email or message.

How long it takes
The handover itself takes five to ten minutes. What is not under anyone’s control is disembarkation: on a large ship with a full load, twenty minutes or more can pass between docking and stepping ashore, particularly if the vehicles come off first.
Travelling in the other direction — if you are boarding — plan to be at the gate at least sixty minutes before departure, and ninety if you are loading a vehicle onto the ship. On summer mornings between 06:00 and 09:00 the traffic in the zone is genuinely heavy.
Five things that help
- Book at least 24 hours ahead. It secures availability and gives us time to start tracking your sailing.
- Send the ship’s name, the gate and the time. It is the difference between us waiting for you and us looking for you.
- Keep your phone charged. Coordination on arrival happens by message and it is the fastest route.
- Don’t join the taxi queue. At peak times the wait for a taxi often exceeds the time the entire car handover would take.
- Photograph the car before you leave. Walk around it with our representative and take two or three pictures. Thirty seconds that saves an argument at the return.
What usually goes wrong
Almost always one of three things:
The wrong gate. Someone remembers the route but not the gate, and the ticket is in the suitcase. Check it before the ship docks.
A missing document.Usually the card, which turns out to be in someone else’s name, or a licence that expires during the rental period. Both take ten seconds to check before you travel.
An undeclared ferry trip. If you intend to take the vehicle to an island, it needs written approval and an authorisation certificate. It cannot be issued at the gate on the day — ask for it when you book.
